The Sailboat Race Committee consists of the chairman and other members who are appointed by the Commodore. All matters pertaining to sailboat racing are under jurisdiction of this committee. The Fleet Captains for each year are those skippers who were awarded the Low Point Championship Award in the prior year. All protests are heard by the Sailboat Protest Committee, whose members are appointed by the Fleet Captain. Visiting Yachtsmen are also encouraged to participate provided they comply with the Policies on Reciprocal Privileges or Guests of Members.
The youth activities program at LAYC consists of the three separate categories listed below. Members are encouraged to participate in sailing class as well as Minnows and Mariners or JYC, depending on their age.
Sailing class is held each Saturday and Sunday starting at 09:00 for beginners, then 10:00-12:00 for the intermediate/advanced sailors. All students will have an opportunity to sail, while learning the basic skill set to eventually sail independently. Students are required to provide and wear life jackets during classes and all students are required to pass a swim test. This is available for all members who are the age of 5 by April 1 of the current year.
MINNOWS AND MARINERS
Minnows and Mariners meet each Saturday and Sunday from 09:00 to 12:00 for children going into kindergarten through 5th grade. Each day there will be a variety of games, crafts, and swimming all with an emphasis on the Corinthian Spirit and LAYC.
Junior Yacht Club meets several Saturdays throughout the summer on off party nights. This youth group is for those entering 6th through 12th grades. Activities are planned and organized with the intent to keep members engaged in sailing and LAYC.
For many years the Club has been host to an invitational regatta for the types of sailboats certified as official by the Board of Directors: i.e., C-Scow, MC-Scow, Hobie 16, Geary 18, Hobie Wave, Holder, Laser. These events are held throughout the season. Qualified members of other yacht clubs are invited to these races.

FLEET REVIEW AND LUNCHEON
This exciting event is held during the Labor Day weekend under the jurisdiction of the Fleet Captain. All Members are encouraged to decorate their sail and power boats for this event. Boat decorations related to current year's theme are popular. Some decorate elaborately and some simply. It doesn't make any difference how much you do, as long as you participate. Numerous trophies are awarded at the well attended luncheon that follows.

We carry a variety of themed shirts, hats, children's clothes, glassware, jackets, sweatshirts, LAYC burgees and other items.
